8 kitchen tools I'd buy again in a heartbeat

Hey, Reader,

As someone who’s all about making the most of every dollar in the kitchen, I’m pretty selective about the tools I invest in. But over the years, I’ve discovered a few key items that are truly worth every penny.

I've rounded up 8 kitchen essentials I’d buy again in a heartbeat, even as a frugal person, because they’ve made cooking from scratch so much easier, faster, and more enjoyable. Whether you’re a beginner or a seasoned home cook, these tools have proven their value time and time again!

Cosori 5.8 QT Air Fryer: I was pretty against air fryers when they first became popular. I thought, why do I need an air fryer if I have an oven? BOY WAS I WRONG. The air fryer is faster, makes food way more crispy with less oil, and doesn't heat up the house. It's something we use multiple times a day!

6 QT Instant Pot: I love the Instant Pot so much I own two!

Souper Cubes: If you read my newsletter earlier this week where I shared what I spent and what I ate last week, you'll notice I use my Souper Cubes to freeze leftovers almost every day. Right now they're $5 off on Amazon - a better discount than my 10% off code for the Souper Cube website!

Small Spatula: When I first bought a mini spatula, I thought I had wasted my money, but this little tool has proven to be SO HANDY. It's the only way to get the last drop out of peanut butter jars, blenders, food processors, and hard to reach places. I love this thing so much.

14-Cup Food Processor: If you're working with a small food processor, you're making your life so much harder than it needs to be. In addition to chopping foods in seconds, I use mine to shred carrots and slice cabbage, potatoes, bell peppers, and more.

3-Set Cookie Scoop: For so much more than making cookies! Think meatballs, muffin batter, ice cream, melon balling, cupcakes, measuring sticky ingredients like peanut butter, and more!

Dishwasher CLEAN/DIRTY magnet: If you can never remember if the dishes in the dishwasher are clean or dirty, this super cheap magnet will be a game changer!

Glass meal prep containers: As people who pack homemade lunches every week, having solid meal prep containers is a must. I've purchased several kinds over the years, and these meal prep containers are by far my favorite for sturdiness, size, and ease to clean.

SPLURGE

Breville Barista Touch: If you're an avid coffee drinker, I can't recommend the Breville Barista Touch enough. It makes exceptional espresso, froths plant-based milk like a DREAM, and is very easy to use. It's certainly an investment, but let me explain how my husband and I came to decide purchasing this machine was a frugal decision.

A few years ago, I was buying $6 lattes 3 times a week, costing ~$936 a year. When we bought this machine for $899, I cut back to just 1 latte out per week. Over the last 5 years, that change has saved us around $2200 and counting compared to the cost of keeping my old habit. Plus, the machine is now $100 cheaper than when I bought it—so there’s even more savings to be had!

Enjoy!

Hey, Reader, Let's face it - meat is really expensive. Especially with today's inflated prices. But there's an easy way to skip the meat without eating green salads every night: lentils! Not only are lentils a great source of plant-based protein, they're also a fraction of the cost of ground beef and can be used in so many recipes you'd traditionally make with beef. Price comparison between 1 pound lentils and 1 pound beef at my local Walmart These 5 lentil recipes are ones I've shared with...

Grab your morning coffee or tea and settle in because it's week 2 of Budget Eats and Receipts! I'm overwhelmed by the positive feedback I got on last week's email announcing this new budgeting series. It makes me so happy to know this kind of content is helpful and inspires you to stay on track to save money. As much as I love sharing budget-friendly recipes, it's hard to illustrate how my recipes can actually save you money in the long run. But with this series, I'm able to show you how I'm...

Introducing...Budget Eats and Receipts! I'm so excited to share that I'm going back to my roots and starting a weekly series where I share what I eat in a week, plus what I spent. This is something I used to do religiously back in 2016 when I was on my debt-free journey. At the time, I was sharing my weekly spending and cooking on Instagram to document what I ate while I paid off $70,000 of student loan debt in 27 months. It helped keep me accountable and was honestly a lot of fun to...
